INTER @CT is proposed as an interactive seminar, streamed live throughout the duration of the conference. Participation and debate would exist beyond the seminar through a web-space. The seminar becomes a space and repository for those who wish to reflect during the conference on matters arising from debate, on the relationships generated between artist and technologies. The seminar would generate critical engagement, whilst circulating discussions and inviting invaluable dialogue on our process. Highlighting the use of online spaces for artists to document, interact and reflect. The conference themes are bound together in this process and potential content. We propose that the conference acts as the basis for research and generation of material for submission of our final conference papers. Blog and seminar would collaboratively form the basis of research and documentation on the Artistic processes through online Medias.
The seminar structure: Short presentations will be made by Alain Ayers and then Rhiannon Jones and Michael Pinchbeck who have created their own working methodologies for the use and engagement with technology. Fragments of their projects will be introduced highlighting the potential of online installations as a site for Artists to reflect upon their practice and generate work at the same time.
Our approach resides between the observatory and the laboratory. Reflexivity asks for the ‘object and subject to collide and become one’ but what happens when artworks are placed and contextualised in a virtual realm? Here, the anthropological methodology of ‘participant observation theory’ is useful. We consider ‘ether’ as a medium to permeate technological space as a discursive tool and to build virtual pathways through the reflective process of art as online installation, a virtual memory made visible.

I am using my mobile to enhance the experience of this seminar. But it feels wrong as i now get calls on silent that i have to cancel. I prefer my usual method me live blogging. It is also easier to type. But this is not what i usually do. Gill Clough
Writing this during the discussion part of the session.The transcription process is very intrusive.We must have the choice to immerse ourselves in technologically driven environments. It should still be possible to practice and study in any art school without touching on on keyboard. Diversity is everything.
